Salary: Academic starting salaries are determined based on qualifications and years of related experience as detailed in the collective agreement for academic employees.
The successful candidate will be required to teach courses in the Information and Communication Technology Cluster within the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology, particularly for the courses and programs related to Computer Programming and Analysis at the North campus and to get involved and support activities that contribute Humber’s Centres of Innovation (COI). In addition to teaching, responsibilities will include curriculum development, lesson planning, assessing student progress and achievement, class management, contribution in program development, applied research, and other co-curricular activity involvement. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an effective learning environment and work as a collaborative team member.
In addition, the successful applicant will be expected to play an active role in student advising, student recruitment, and graduate placement. The candidate will be expected to further develop community partnerships, as well as participate on Humber College/Departmental committees and advance college initiatives. This individual will also contribute to the overall direction of the program, assisting with the promotion and marketing of the program, and developing and maintaining strong industry ties.
The successful candidate will have a M.Sc. (Ph.D. preferred) in Computer Science, Information Science, Business Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Analytics or a related field of study with a minimum of three years of industry experience in relevant field. The successful candidate must have polytechnic post-secondary teaching experience, or equivalent experience as a trainer in industry.
Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario (Licensed engineers with PEO is preferred) is also an asset, with knowledge of the related disciplines. Experience of coordinating project teams working on Industry projects / applied research is required. Experience in applied research projects, collaborating with industry or having an establish program of applied research, would be an asset. Integration of industry lead projects into curriculum is an asset.
In addition, the successful candidate will possess well-developed interpersonal communication and problem solving skills and demonstrated ability in curriculum development and delivery as well as the ability to convey the conceptual and applied aspects of knowledge to a broad range of students and commitment to excellence in teaching and learning and to working within a team environment. A strong network of contacts and affiliation with other professionals, organizations/associations and industry are assets.
