JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Materials Research Institute at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a Postdoctoral candidate with a start date of March 1. Candidates should have expertise in electromagnetics, electromagnetic simulation with a knowledge of CST microwave studio, and experimental characterization methods of RF structures.
The successful candidate will lead research and development activities in two project areas. The first focuses on simulation of surface and volume coil structures for magnetic resonance imaging. The second area using simulation models for quantifying electromagnetic field distributions in transmission line structures . The candidate will work closely with an interdisciplinary team of investigators from the Center for Dielectrics and Piezoelectrics, Hershey Medical School, the Center for Dielectrics and Piezoelectrics, national labs and industry partners.
The successful candidate will be expected to take a leadership role in the research project, define for themselves tasks and paths to achieve project objectives, and author novel publications. The candidate will also be expected to mentor students, fulfill project administration functions, and assist in proposal development. The candidate is expected to work diligently to achieve the goals and to maintain deliverable timelines and milestones.
For full consideration, the applicant should have the following qualifications:
- a Ph.D. in a relevant engineering or science discipline
- experience developing and experimentally characterizing of devices
- experience in electromagnetic simulation\experience in characterizing materials for MRI environments
- ability to translate prototype hardware to mature and robust designs
- eagerness to collaborate with partners in a fast-paced R&D effort
Applicants should provide a cover letter and CV. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with good possibility of refunding.
