About the Role:

Employed through a preferred contingent supplier to support projects on-site or off-site for neurocrine.

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):
  • Independently execute in vivo PK/PD and/or efficacy studies that support nonclinical and clinical stage programs in the neurology and endocrinology disease space

  • Administer small molecule compounds and biologics to naive and disease-model rodents (mouse and rat), measure endpoints (body weight, clinical scores, behavioral) and collect biospecimens

  • Follow study protocol, IACUC protocols, SOP and animal welfare policy in animal studies. Help maintain laboratory and supply inventories

  • Have effective troubleshooting, problem-solving and communication skills

  • Work both independently and collaboratively. Candidates must be flexible and have strong multitasking skills

  • Collect, organize, and present scientific/technical data internally and in project team meetings

  • Perform all duties in keeping with the Company's core values, policies and all applicable regulations

  • Performs assigned experiments to support scientific activities and project goals involving in vivo pharmacology assessment of novel therapeutics

  • May design less complex experiments

  • Recommends alternatives, researches new methods and techniques and may proactively seek out senior personnel to discuss potential solutions to problems

  • Works with stereotaxic surgical techniques

  • Oversees compound dosing via multiple routes of administration

  • Responsible for behavioral assay development, validation and screening

  • Completes data analysis and reporting. Maintains and updates SOP's and writes data summaries for experiments conducted

  • Handles and doses animals in a laboratory setting

  • Reviews, comprehends and complies with all SOP's, IACUC procedures, and safety and quality assurance standards at all times

  • Provides training and/or supervision to junior staff, as needed

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • BS/BA degree in biological sciences preferably related to behavioral neuroscience, pharmacology or biopsychology and 2+ years of experience in the handling and dosing of rodents in a laboratory setting OR

  • MS/MA degree in biological sciences preferably related to behavioral neuroscience, pharmacology or biopsychology and some relevant experience preferred

  • Compound administration different routes (PO IP SC IM)

  • Extensive hands-on knowledge of behavioral testing in a variety of assays like locomotor activity, fear conditioning

  • Occasional weekend work required

  • Recognizes fundamental anomalies in data points and identifies issues in experiments/processes

  • Begins to understand how to think outside of the technical process and consider the impact decisions will have on the broader scientific goals

  • Strong knowledge of one scientific discipline

  • Good knowledge of scientific principles, methods and techniques

  • Good knowledge and demonstrated ability working with a variety of laboratory equipment/tools

  • Strong computer skills

  • Good communications, problem-solving, analytical thinking skills

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • Good project management skills

  • High level of organization and attention to detail

  • Willingness and ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel

  • Advanced multitasking, trouble shooting and deductive reasoning skills required
