Position Overview

The Director, Emerging Customer Marketing is responsible for cultivating, refining, and amplifying Exact Sciences' value proposition for non-health system organized customers, including employers, federal and state entities, and cause-advocacy organizations, among others. This individual will direct efforts to assess the unique needs, challenges, and opportunities in these new markets and guide implementation of strategies that position Exact Sciences as a trusted partner in detecting and preventing cancer. Working collaboratively with colleagues in Health Systems Marketing, HIT Marketing, direct-reports in Emerging Customer Marketing, and cross-functional peers, this role will translate overarching strategy into tactical execution of resources that support account manager engagement with these customers and inform campaigns that raise awareness and build understanding of Exact Sciences' unique capabilities for meeting their needs.

The successful candidate will demonstrate outstanding marketing acumen, as well as collaboration and project management skills including the ability to manage without authority, communicate effectively with marketing agencies, external partners, and field-based account teams, and manage budgets.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Leverage external market insights and internal data to identify opportunities for innovative new programs and solutions to meet evolving target-customer needs.
  • Translate subject-matter expertise on topics including employer-sponsored healthcare, insurance payers and quality measures, value-based care, population health management and other trends impacting healthcare consumers and stakeholders into actionable strategies and tactics.
  • Collaborate with field leadership to identify and prioritize target customer profiles based on market opportunity and Exact Sciences' ability to deliver customer value.
  • Manage ongoing execution and project initiation through direct reports and, as needed, external agency partners.
  • Consistent demonstration of exceptional leadership qualities, including but not limited to the ability to attract and retain the best team, foster a culture of high performance, lead with integrity, humility, accountability, and courage, and set a clear vision to energize teams towards the future.
  • Effectively manage, support, and guide your team, including, but not limited to delegating tasks and responsibilities, assess employee performance and provide helpful feedback and training opportunities.
  • Drive a consistent cadence of market research and voice-of-customer activities to maintain understanding of awareness, perception, and preference among these customers, as well as their foundational challenges and opportunities.
  • Leverage field advisory boards to gain insights and consensus on assets and deliverables needed to support day-to-day engagements with current and prospective customer accounts.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on the Health Systems Marketing team, Customer Experience, IT, and others on the execution of digital marketing solutions.
  • Ensure continual measurement of resource utilization and customer engagement metrics to track message uptake, channel effectiveness, and business impact.
  • Support and guide professional development of direct-reports.
  • Organize work effectively, prioritize work, and align the work to organizational initiatives.
  • Work in a self-directed and organized manner using excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Possess strong interpersonal and leadership qualities.

  • Support and comply with the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to travel 30% of working time away from work location. May include overnight/weekend travel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare, marketing, business administration or field related to essential duties.
  • 10+ years of experience in marketing or commercial field.
  • Proficient computer skills to include Internet navigation, Email usage, and word processing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office to include Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Marketing experience across health systems, life sciences, or related industries.
  • Master's degree in healthcare field, business administration or field related to essential duties.
  • Knowledge of the healthcare landscape (i.e., payment reform topics, health equity, care redesign, value-based care, population health management, employer health and wellness programs) as it relates to organized customers.
  • Project management experience.

Salary Range:

$174,000.00 - $277,000.00

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis and may differ by hiring location. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to receive company stock upon hire as well as annually.
