Kalpana Laboratory in the Department of Genetics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine is seeking to fill a post-doctoral position immediately. Highly motivated PhDs are needed to take part in exciting HIV/AIDS projects.

Kalpana laboratory is investigating role of SWI/SNF complex, specifically focusing on the role of INI1/SMARCB1 in HIV-1 replication and has begun investigations into SARS-CoV-2. Solving the INI1/SMARCB1 integrase-binding domain structure has shed novel insights into RNA biology, HIV-1-INI1/SMARCB1 interactions and on the development of novel anti-HIV-1 therapeutic strategies. In addition, Kalpana laboratory is using single-cell and single-molecule RNA-FISH and single cell RNA-seq studies to investigate the regulation of HIV-1 latency and role of INI1/SMARCB1 on HIV-1 transcriptional, post-transcription late events in viral replication. The individuals to be appointed will have the opportunity to spearhead these exciting projects designed to unravel the molecular mechanisms of HIV replication/HIV latency/SARS CoV-2 replication using molecular biology, Biochemistry, Virology, structural biology and cell biology approaches.

Also, please note that NY state has one of the lowest COVID-19 positivity rating!

Please email Dr. Ganjam V. Kalpana ganjam.kalpana@einsteinmed.org

The candidates should have a PhD in Virology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or a closely related field. Applicants with additional qualifications in biochemical and genetic techniques, CRISPR/Cas9 technology are also encouraged to apply.
