About the Role:
Provides support in maintaining the facilities' environmental, industrial, health and safety programs. Assists in maintaining safety equipment inventory, performs periodic safety inspections, monitors hazardous waste removal vendors, and may assist in consolidating and shipping hazardous wastes (chemical, biohazardous and radioactive). May help to recommend corrective action where environmental health and safety hazards exist. May participate in assisting inspections of lab and plant environments to ensure compliance with global occupational safety and health standards._
Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):Support the implementation and monitoring of environmental health and safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
May perform laboratory inspections to ensure compliance and assist in recommending corrective actions where environmental health and safety hazards exist
Assist in monitoring and controlling employee exposure to radiation, chemical, and biological hazards
May assist with collection and disposal of hazardous waste
Provide support in maintaining inventory and operation of safety equipment, including calibrating detection equipment
Participate in miscellaneous Operations department activities including, but not limited to: shipping and receiving activities, asset management, inventory management (laboratory supply and chemical), facilities support, and plant operations
Other duties as assigned
High school diploma required and 4+ years of training/experience in the environmental health and safety field OR
AS degree in a scientific or related discipline and 2+ years of relevant experience in the environmental health and safety field OR
Bachelors degree in a scientific or related discipline and
some relevant experience in the environmental health and safety field
HAZWOPER 40 hour certificate preferred but not required
Applies general knowledge of business developed through education or experience and begins to learn Neurocrine's business
Has basic knowledge of practices and procedures within own discipline
Developing skill and abilities with tools used in the job family or discipline
Has conceptual knowledge of theories and practices and will learn procedures within own functional area
Ability to work as part of a team
Good computer skills
Developing communications, problem-solving, analytical thinking, planning and organization skills
Detail oriented
Understands importance of meeting deadlines
Understanding of federal, state, and local environmental health and safety regulations and procedures
Able to plan, organize, and work efficiently to support laboratory personnel
Ability to troubleshoot and develop creative and innovative solutions to problems
Valid drivers license and ability to drive company vehicles

The hourly rate we reasonably expect to pay is $28.28-$39.97. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 15% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
